Actually, not homeless at all. This was part of a fierce community protest against the contstruction of a McDonald’s store in an outer suburb/mountain village east of Melbourne Australia. The mountains east of Melbourne are called the Dandenong Ranges. Although they have long since been engulfed by urban sprawl, the residents of the many small communities there consider themselves and their more relaxed, less materialistic lifestyle quite seperate from suburbia; and that it should be saved from the disturbances a McDonald’s would bring.
Despite the overwheming local opposition, the new store was completed and opened about a moth ago, and has apparently been doing a roaring trade ever since. I believe there are still some protesters at the store.

Opened about a MONTH ago……I’ve no idea what moths have to do with this…..

  3. Ugnaught says:

If there really had been ‘overwhelming’ opposition, wouldn’t the place be failing?

I imagine the average person protesting this McDonalds was liberal, and liberals always say they’re tolerant. If a restaurant you don’t like builds near you, wouldn’t the tolerant thing be to just not eat there?

  4. Elric says:

Ugnaught, I’m not sure if you realize what liberal actually means in Australia. It often carries a level of bigotry.
